Newgrounds Flash Animations

These are a collection of recovered flash animations from around 2003-2005.

The majority of my old animations are lost forever. Long story short, in 2007 in a fit of depression, I deleted all of my stuff from newgrounds.com. I managed to recover these videos in 2022. For some reason, a handful of the .swf files were still on the newgrounds servers. I used the wayback machine to find the files source address, and was able to pull the file from the site.

Newgroundsillaz (1-4)

These were all done almost exclusively in 2003. And were some of my earliest animations. The Newgroundsillaz was a parody series on Gorillaz music videos, swapping out the band members with popular Newgrounds.com characters. Including Pico, Strawberry Clock, Flathead, and Alien Hominid. (Note: Alien Hominids design was based on the flash game. The full video-game wasn’t in development yet, where the character design was changed. Newgroundsillaz 5 used the new design.) and featured numerous cameos from other popular Newgrounds characters in the background.

At this time, only the first Gorillaz album was released. The first 4 videos were all done with a mouse for drawing, and done over the span of about a month and a half. (each video came out about a week apart)

3D effects were done in Swift3D, a 3d software that exported animations into .swf files.

Newgroundsillaz (1-2 V.2)

These were done about 2 months after the original 4. I had gotten my first digital art tablet (a used Wacom Artz II) and the difference in quality was night and day. So I wen’t back and started remaking the series with the updated graphics.

3D effects were still being done with Swift3D, but this time more detailed.

Newgroundsillaz (5)

This animation was gone, but I was able to recover screenshots that I had shared on the forums. NGillaz 5 was made for Pico day on the website in 2006. The gorillaz had released a single called Rock-It, before releasing their 2nd album.

This video was a parody of that music video, using the updated design of Alien Hominid to match the Video-game, rather than the flash game.

Newgroundsillaz 6 was in the works, based on the video for Feel Good Inc. But it never got far, my job at the time was 7 days a week mandatory of physical labor, needless to say I was too exhausted to get anything done, and it sat.

Collaboration Videos

These short animations were all done for collaboration videos. We were given a theme and a deadline, and all videos were compiled together and uploaded. The Newgrounds Horror Show was the only one that I personally ran.
(note, all of these videos are still up on Newgrounds.com)

Newgrounds Jam 3 - The Art Gallery 2004

A Simple Line 8 2006

Newgrounds VS: Round 2 - The Experiment 2004

Newgrounds Horror Show - ReveR 2004

That’s all folks

Unfortunately these are all that I could recover. However, I did use them as a means of getting use to being on camera for my Youtube channel. So if you’d like to see more in depth info on these, or see me go down memory lane, check out this reaction series I did on all of my old videos.

Bringing it back?

While I don’t have the time that I use to, I spent a week animating over some roller skating footage. Granted, most of this is all rotoscoped, it was still a fun trip back down memory lane.
